"Wondrous Horse - "Cavallo meraviglioso" (Fire Museum Records on CD)

Welcome one and all to the world of Wondrous Horse! Cavallo Meraviglisio is the debut offering of the transatlantic (Italy/U.S.) duo of Vanessa Rossetto (Pulga, The Mighty Acts of God, etc.) and Salvatore Borrelli ((etre) & Harps of Fuchsia Kalmia). These two musicians continue to evolve in fascinating ways, and the sounds to be found on Cavallo Meravigliso may come as a surprise to some, which makes it all the more exciting to hear.

Harps of Fuchsia Kalmia""Burning with your old joy in the terminal sun" (Ikuisuus on CD)

"Harps of Fuchsia Kalmia is the first personal work after my long phase in post-digital & texture music with (etre). I felt it necessary to purify from my electroacoustic swim, trying to bring the same approach as in (etre) into a totally acoustic project worked with the body, voice and hands, without the abstraction of software music & electricity. "Burning with your old joy in the terminal sun" developed several years in my mind. During that time I was engaged in programming works and digital projects like (etre). Now, years after the idea was born, I finally found the calm to dedicate myself to work without machines & laptop, and these recordings took place. All guitars for this work were recorded at 31st of December 2006. It was a magical night here in my home: While fireworks exploded outside my window (I live near the Vesuvio, an active volcano) I fell into a hypnotic dream where thoughts of death, Christ, love, impossible love, and all my life were absorbed. All guitars sounds for this work were completed that night. However, I've been working for years with Indian & raga chords aiming to find a solution to play guitar without re-working and re-exploring all those infinite possibilities of my spiritual teacher, Robbie Basho. All the other instruments were recorded during the year, day by day, and they represent the intention to bring different influences into my work, in particular the opera of Luciano Cilio. "Burning with your old joy in the terminal sun" is a work dedicated to cyclic nature and to death; it's an esoteric and psychic excursion to the states of mind of Maya Deren, Carole Schneemann, George Bataille and Derek Jarman. Each song is devoted to the certain approach of form: it's a visual work based on every fragment, memory and breath. I tried to catch the spirit to play between free improvisation and the accuracy of composed parts without making any compromises. Recordings were made with the thought of refractions of sounds from walls and rooms, positioning microphones in the corners of opposing walls and trying to monitore the vibrations of the walls with the chord of the instruments. "Burning with your old joy in the terminal sun" is recorded simultaneously while I worked with Wondrous Horse, the other project of mine with Vanessa Rossetto. It's the work I'd like to be remembered: it reflects in a perfect way my idea of breaks & catharsis. It's my personal homage to Finnish music I adore."

( e t r e ) - I can't take my head to see HIGHER because the sky is landing over my neck (2007; CD-R edition; numbered at hand... 200 copies on Riz(h)ome Records)

"I can't take my head to see HIGHER because the sky is landing over my neck" is the third and last cd of the "Trilogy of the voice" started with "Post-Fordist parade in the strike of events (Baskaru, 2006) and continued with the second "Voices stomp flames for requiem times" (Ruralfaune, 2007). Also in this case, the work is dedicated to two artists: Angus MacLise and Jackson Pollock and inspired by their individual researchs; but at difference of the first two works, this time only two long tracks cover the disc (50 minutes). "I can't take..." is, first of all, a cd that it talks of love and it's dedicated to all boyfriends & girlfriends. The continuing respect the free-folk form of the last two previous works is given by the same method of processing (max/msp tools & laptop randomizers) but the introspective level of "Voices stomp flames...", here is based on intimate moments and not on a collective history of the sounds. This cd is been used and conceived for an installation in "Circolo degli artisti" in Rome called: "Mumu goes round & round" based on a black tree with some images and some nude subwoofers on it. For this reason this cd is the first work of (etre) based on a common work togheter with Federica Ravanelli that she has worked on the installation and on the photos in this work and his nature, respect his previous works, it's very different: more violent & obsessive. As all previous work on (etre), the reasons behind his music, turns this time in a more strong way: total discontinuity of sonorus levels, complete abolition of the forms and the same research of the uneasiness and abstration. The continuity with analog & digital working is based on the use of some instruments: Kalimba, Zither, Shruti box, Esraj , Lap steel & Electric guitars and a massive use of field recordings (slaughterhouse, mountains, thermal baths, marchs of the Palio in Siena). This work is inspired at classic minimalism and at the early use of electronics and every audio event is cutted by the use of voices and strange interruptions. This work is been pressed in 200 copies on the (etre)'s label: Riz(h)ome Records and it has 7 different covers and 3 types of different paper inside.
